Now we divide the sum from Step 2 by 8. Put the remainder aside. Then divide the whole part by 8 again, and put the remainder aside again. Keep doing this until the whole part is 0.

43072 ÷ 8 = 5384 with 0 remainder
5384 ÷ 8 = 673 with 0 remainder
673 ÷ 8 = 84 with 1 remainder
84 ÷ 8 = 10 with 4 remainder
10 ÷ 8 = 1 with 2 remainder
1 ÷ 8 = 0 with 1 remainder

Step 4)
In the final step, we take the remainders from Step 3 and put them together in reverse order to get our answer to A840 hexadecimal to octal:

A840 hexadecimal = 124100 octal
