6831 ÷ 8 = 853 with 7 remainder
853 ÷ 8 = 106 with 5 remainder
106 ÷ 8 = 13 with 2 remainder
13 ÷ 8 = 1 with 5 remainder
1 ÷ 8 = 0 with 1 remainder

Step 4)
In the final step, we take the remainders from Step 3 and put them together in reverse order to get our answer to 1AAF hexadecimal to octal:

1AAF hexadecimal = 15257 octal
